Data Center Operations Engineer

Datacenter Operations Engineer- Enterprise Storage Services

Project Duration: 6 months

The successful candidate will work within the Operations Team, working closely with the Migration Team, Deployment Coordinators and the Global Release and Deployment Team
  • You will be primarily responsible for delivery of Operations and Support services for the organization to global standards, plus the documentation and troubleshooting.  Operational responsibilities spans multiple data centers globally.
  • Responsibilities also extend to assessing current storage infrastructure and you will be expected and encouraged to make recommendations for process, service and operational improvement
  • Proficient in business and technical communications both written and oral to facilitate and support the Transformation Program, strategy, vision, and roadmaps, to consumers, service owners, and application owners
  • Understands and able to articulate high level benefits and general financial impact of Technology Transformation
  • Work closely with release and deployment activities providing guidance and oversight, demonstrating drive and capability to deliver assured, reliable installations and migrations with zero data loss and minimal service impact
  • Developing the ability to lead incidents and root cause analysis, managing the service to support the Incident/Problem Manager, the Technology Service owner and deliver a quality operation to the consumers of Enterprise Storage Services
  • Adapts well to change, a self-motivated, collaborative broad thinker
  • EMC (VMAX, XtremIO), NetApp CDOT, XIV, Pure storage arrays and Hyper-converged platforms
  • SRDF, RecoverPoint, Snap Mirror/Snap Vault/Snap Shot, XIV Mirroring
  • Cisco and Brocade fabric
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with an ability to reverse engineer towards finding rapid solutions and short-term workarounds to incidents
  • Create operational guides and associated documentation plus detailed runbooks for migration procedures
  • Provide third line support to the OPS team for any service impacting incidents on critical business systems
  • Performs system testing to ensure new storage configuration, changes and condition are completed/finalized without issue
  • Scripting or ability to tailor automated tasks
  • Other requirements; solid writing, excellent verbal and communication skills, managing time effectively and according to priorities
  • Implement best practices as per the storage vendor specifications for different enterprise workload migration processes
  • Work closely with end users to understand and resolve ongoing issues, and be pro-active in engaging storage vendors support team as needed as a result of deployment activity related incidents and challenges
  • Experience with Server Platform administration (UNIX or Windows) is a “plus”
