EIRE Systems delivers on-site Data Center operations management services on behalf of our client, a leading financial institution.

The teams perform a mix of project-driven activities for new equipment installs and decommissioning plus BAU operations support for change requests and day-to-day support for all activities inside the data centers.

The team is comprised of a variety of nationalities operating in a Japanese + English bilingual environment.

The position works a Monday to Friday schedule (typically 11am to 8pm). Saturday shifts required on a Team rotation basis.
 

Job Description:

The Data Center Support personnel will work as a member of a team to provide the following on-site services to the client:
 

• Install, test and maintain a wide range of IT communication infrastructure and cabling within Data
• Centers and Telco exchanges located nationally
• Laying, splicing and testing of fiber optic cabling
• Laying, terminating and testing of copper Cat6 data & Voice cabling (including Krone blocks).
• Develop project documentation and provide advice as a Technical Authority
• Lead data center engineering projects
• Supervise staff on site to ensure projects tasks are fully delivered to the right standard
• Support the Data Center Manager to maintain all data center standards, procedures, health and safety, and day to day infrastructure performance issues
• Provide technical advice on managing problems within the M&E infrastructure of data center
• Create job tickets and agree the implementation stage with the Planning and Logistic specialist
• Providing daily audits and reporting about the performance level of services
• Provide data center remote hand support services when required
• Provide data center engineering support for all remote sites (travel if require to remote sites national)
• Mentor, coach, train and guide other colleagues to deliver quality data center service

Candidate Profile:

• 5+ years Data Center or telecommunication field experience. Experience in an investment banking or related business is highly desirable
• Bilingual - Fluency in both Japanese & English
• Able to work occasionally on weekends or travel nationally to remote sites.
• Hands-on experience with installation and testing of structured cabling i.e. splicing fiber optic, (ODF and Cassettes, OTDR testing), terminating copper CAT 6 , Voice multi-pair cable and Krone blocks
• Experience of installation of rack mountable equipment
• Good level of knowledge about Data Center Operation and Management procedures
• Experience or ability of developing and documenting operational processes
• Good level of knowledge about data center power distribution and cooling systems
• Good level of knowledge about monitoring the data center environment and critical assets
• Working knowledge of the technical requirements and builds of DC (Direct Current) power infrastructures for data centers and telecommunication/IT equipment
• Working knowledge of networking topologies (Layer 1 & Layer 2)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and experience of supervising others
• Ability to develop and to provide technical or operational awareness sessions for our staff
• Ability to logically and methodically think through problems.
• Detail focused when completing records, tickets and supporting documentation
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Strong team player
• Networking or Electrical or Data Centre qualification desirable (ITIL / CDCP, CDCS or Cisco Certifications)
