Challenging Network Engineer role to work with a large and evolving multinational corporation that is doing great things across the globe, as a direct result of the continuously evolving global mobile communications technology market.

To support our clients' on-going expansion in Japan and Asia, we are looking to hire an experienced Network Engineer with advanced technical skill for Data Networks; a networking professional who is confident, well organised and who communicates well with all technology and business disciplines.

You will support operations and network changes for an enterprise environment comprising Enterprise-class Cisco networking equipment (Nexus 5k, 7k, 9k; 6500, 55XX switches), F5 Load Balancing and CheckPoint firewalls. Working as part of a local Network team, with support from global network operations, the main focus of the role will be supporting the day-to-day network support services, troubleshooting network performance issues, handling incidents, planning and executing operational network change activities and assisting Senior Network Engineers with planning coordination of Network and Telephony project initiatives.

The Network Engineer:
  • Works with resources across disciplines to ensure Network and Telephony solution designs are in line with Global standards.
  • Plans network-specific project implementation tasks and organises work breakdown schedules to complete required tasks on a published timeline.  
  • Manages day-to-day operations including implementation of appropriate network monitoring tools in coordination with the Global monitoring team to proactively isolate events before service degradation occurs.
  • Conducts Incident management, Problem management, and Change Management in accordance with Corporate Policies and Procedures.
  • Keeps technical documentation, network diagrams, inventory control documentation, and security documentation updated and available for IT support staff.
  • and communicates regularly and clearly with remote team members to ensure all parties are prepared to support the operational environment and project implementation tasks.

Technical Skills
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of networking experience administering network operations and leading projects.
  • Current CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification or higher
  • Hands-on experience with the majority of the following:
  • Enterprise-class Cisco networking equipment (Cisco 6500, 55XX), Cisco Nexus, F5 Load Balancing and CheckPoint
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure technologies, i.e. networking, telephony, security, server, storage, desktop, etc.
  • BA or BS degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field
  • ITIL knowledge (certification is a plus)

Language
  • Business level English to work with global IT
  • Business level Japanese preferred

Eligible candidates must be presently residing in Japan, OR;
Have significant previous experience working in Japan and be willing to relocate to Tokyo at short notice.
